Incom Team Runs Conwy Half Marathon for Kids N Cancer

An intrepid team of long-distance runners from Incom are set to tackle the Conwy half marathon. They’ll be raising much needed funds for children’s charity, Kids N Cancer.

Voted in the top 5 most scenic half marathons in the UK by readers of “Runners World”, this great marathon is now in its 7th year. The start and finish is on the quayside in front of the 700-year old Conwy Castle. Over 3000 runners are due to take part, including an Incom-CNS team led by John Jones, Pre-Sales Technical Consultant.

A cause close to our hearts

John has a very personal interest in supporting Kids N Cancer, a national charity which helps children with cancer to receive life-saving treatment that is not funded via the National Health Service. John’s daughter, Gracie, was diagnosed with a malignant tumour in 2014 and received proton beam therapy in America. Gracie is currently undergoing treatment for a recurrence, but this time, her treatment is being delivered in the UK.

Going the extra mile

A lifelong Liverpool FC supporter, John will run with colleagues on 22nd November. He has even gone “on the wagon” during his training programme! His goal is to raise £500 in pledges before the marathon – and run the marathon in full Manchester United FC kit on the day. Better still, if he is slower than 1 hour 38 minutes, John will play a round of golf at Worsley Golf Club wearing a full Everton FC kit! John will be accompanied in his endeavour by die-hard Incom running club members David Hughes, Dave Williamson and Jason Kilvert.

Speaking about the forthcoming “big run”, David Hughes, Managing Director of Incom-CNS, comments, “We like to get behind our colleagues in their fundraising efforts and are particularly keen to offer Kids N Cancer our support. I know we will be spurred on by the importance of the cause we are supporting. Many children like Gracie need expensive and highly specialised treatment to beat cancer. We want to make a real difference and the best way to do this is to raise as much money as we can.”
