Delivering connectivity to the UK’s second internet city!
Virtual1 have been working closely with Incom-CNS for over 5 years now, and when it came to planning our network expansion some 2 years ago, our relationship with Incom-CNS and our intention to support a strong partner made Manchester an obvious choice to host one of the core parts of our enlarged network. We knew that Greater Manchester and indeed much of the north, did not have access to the sorts of connectivity speeds that London enjoys, and certainly not at the same sort of commercials.
Virtual1 had previously specialised in delivering fibre connectivity directly inside Greater London, whilst aggregating other networks to service businesses nationwide. Using our own network gave us a distinct commercial and technological advantage, and we were keen to deliver these benefits to Incom-CNS, on their own doorstep in Manchester.
Manchester already has the infrastructure to claim the UK’s second internet city – it is home to the second site of LINX – (London internet exchange) through which traverses much of the UK’s internet traffic.
Manchester a now key hub of our new nationwide network, with our network footprint stretching across Greater Manchester and the Northwest. With 19 lit exchanges, from Liverpool to Bolton & Blackburn, we can help our partners connect businesses across the region.
Our network isn’t all about just driving down the price, we have also been keen to address how the connectivity industry has lagged behind the wider IT world in terms of service. We wanted to remove the lead times of days for changes and put the control of our network directly into Incom-CNS hands, so they can deliver a market leading service experience, without us slowing them down.
We were the first UK network to deploy and deliver a fully software defined carrier network, which gives Incom-CNS direct control over the solutions they provide to their customers, from bandwidth flex and VLAN resizing, to quality of service settings, all in real time.
Working closely with Incom-CNS, we have also ensured that our network is privately connected to many of their wider solutions. Understanding their product portfolio, we can take a solution-based approach, which ensures that all traffic remains private and secure, with ownership of data from end to end, fault diagnosis and performance can be tightly controlled, and optimal performance assured.
This close relationship ensures that Incom-CNS customers can benefit from cutting edge connectivity, combined with Incom-CNS own service excellence and commercially compelling solutions.
